I don't recall hearing those many decades ago the "I'm bored" complaint that is heard far too many times from today's young generation. Children back then were kept busy with helping the family by working on household or farm chores. Only when time allowed did they play with other children in the neighborhood, contriving games like sand-lot ball, kick-the can, or hide-and-seek Or they entertained themselves, using their imaginations to build forts, cut paper dolls, or lay on their backs in a grassy field and make believe animal shapes out of the fluffy, white clouds in the sky.
